LVP floors won't scratch, stain, or indent easily; in fact, it's considered to be a kid-and-pet-friendly floor. It has several layers and, at the top, is a transparent, strong melamine wear sheet that protects the surface from wear and keeps spills from absorbing. While all vinyl is strong, this should be at least 8-mm or more, with a 20-mils wear layer.
LVP is one form of luxury vinyl (LVF), with the other form being groutable squares to echo stone or tile looks. Images are taken with 3D photography, so they are clear and vibrant, showing knots, grains and swirls. The floors have a micro bevel and deep embossing to add depth, design, and textured features, such as wire-brushed, hand scraped, weathered, and distressed. The floors are available in matt, gloss, and high gloss colors.
These floors are also low maintenance, requiring only daily sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Installation can be a simple floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, then hover over the subfloor without nails or glue. Subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level.
